A short jaunt from Bar Harbor, Maine to my front door. Something like
1000 miles miles, 10-20,000 feet of climbing.  Bar Harbor is on Mount
Desert Island, off the coast of Maine, about 100 miles from
Canada.

The other end would be my driveway in Takoma Park, MD, outside of
DC.

This will be approximately half the entire Atlantic Coast. Probably
the prettier half, though I wouldn't mind biking down in the keys (not
in August).

And yes, we are doing this ride in August. Average August highs and
lows range from 77 to 56 in Bar Harbor, to 86 and 65 in Takoma
Park. The latter seem on the low side, however, as in July we
experienced a week w/ at least five straight days in the mid-90s,
hitting 100 on several, with one or two more to come the weekend
before the ride starts.
